What Does the Bible Say About Meditation?
Many Christians are unaware that the Bible actually mentions meditation and that God encourages and even, commands it at times. Did you know that? Bravo if you did! I will admit that I did not know this, even after having a personal relationship with God for 22 years! While I am not perfect, I have regularly experienced supernatural dreams, visions, seen miracles, God’s Divine protection in my life, etc., but in all those years, I had no idea that meditation was a supernatural technology of the Kingdom of God. If anyone would’ve asked me about meditation, I, like most Christians, would have likely called it evil simply because it seems to be more mainstream in relation to other religions and/or new age. Have you also had this erroneous thought? Well, the Holy Spirit graciously showed me that there is great error in judgment and discernment regarding this and I will explain more in detail, shortly, so that you will not be deceived and so you will have clear spiritual understanding.
What is Meditation?
The Bible does mention meditation in various passages, but to understand what God means when the Scriptures speaks of meditation, we need to lay the foundation of the definition. You will find that great revelation will open up to you in this first initial step!
Let’s begin with defining what it means to meditate. (Slowly read through the list and then I’ll tie it together for you). According to Merriam-Webster.com, to meditate means:
· To engage in contemplation or reflection
· To engage in mental exercise for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness.
· To focus one’s thoughts on so as to understand it deeply; reflect or ponder over
· To plan or project in the mind
And here are some synonyms:
· Chew over
· Consider
· Ruminate
· Daydream
· Imagine
· Visualize
Based on the above definitions and synonyms, it should have just helped paint the picture that meditation is something humans do naturally and all the time. I have learned that with God, there are many levels, layers, realms and dimensions of things and so, we can now be FREE of the incorrect perspective on meditation. Agreed? Good! The Bible shows us that God wants us to meditate on His laws, ways and on Him (keep reading for numerous passages I will cite to confirm everything I have shared so far). Now, let’s move on to why daily intentional meditation is essential for a Christian.
<<< HERE’S A SCIENCE-BACKED SOUND WAVE I USE TO MEDITATE >>>
Why is Daily Meditation Essential for a Christian?
In today’s fast-paced world, finding a moment of calm can feel impossible. However, integrating daily meditation into your routine can profoundly impact your well-being and your relationship with God. Meditation is more than just sitting quietly; it is actually a scientifically-backed practice that involves so much more than just calming your mind or controlling your breathing. When you meditate, as a Christian, it ought to be to intentionally disconnect from the world’s distractions and to connect with the Lord who lives in you (Jesus said, “…for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you” Luke 17:21 & “Christ in you, [is] the hope of Glory” Colossians 1:27). Furthermore, Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He (God) has put eternity in the hearts of men…”
Christian meditation (scientifically-speaking) enhances your body’s energy, frequency, and vibration, which God created and which permeates all physical and spiritual creation, as we know it. For far too long, Christians have been ignorant (lacking knowledge or awareness) simply because they did not know what they did not know. Sounds crazy right? Well, for those who have vaguely heard of these terms (energy, frequency, vibration), most seem to reject them as if of the devil, disregarding a foundational, spiritual truth: that the devil has NEVER created anything! (To give the devil credit of “creating” is to put him above God! Do you want to do that? Of course, you don’t because you believe God IS Greater. With this in mind, let’s move on). The devil can only twist God’s original, authentic version of things (God alone is Creator of ALL things). Therefore, God (not the devil) created energy, frequencies, vibrations, etc. It’s simply amazing that science is continuously proving the existence of God and this topic is no different. As Christians, we must now allow God to teach us His original and authentic version of such mysterious things, like energy, frequencies and vibrations. We will find that attaining and submitting to His knowledge about such things will only help us draw nearer to Him, in awe and wonder, giving Him glory. Daily meditation is essential for a Christian because it brings you into the awareness of your divine union with God (2 Peter 1:4, 1 Corinthians 6:17) and the more we are in His Presence, the more His Presence will be evident in us and exude from us! Ok, so what is energy, frequencies, vibrations and how do they work?
The Science of Meditation: Energy, Frequency, and Vibration
Meditation is deeply connected to principles of energy, frequency and vibration. We have already established that God created these things, so let’s open ourselves to Holy Spirit’s revelation. Let’s review some very simple definitions of the following (in relation to the topic at hand):
· Energy – the force that causes things to move; dynamic quality; aura, chi, vibes, vibrations
· Frequency – the number of waves that pass a given point in one second; unit for frequency is the hertz (Hz); frequency is a level of vibration
· Vibration – a characteristic emanation, aura, or spirit that infuses or vitalizes someone or something that can be instinctively sensed or experienced
According to quantum physics, everything in the universe vibrates at specific frequencies, including our thoughts and emotions. Did you hear that? Even our thoughts emit frequencies! Positive thoughts and emotions like love & gratitude emit high frequencies, while stress and fear vibrate at lower levels. Meditation helps by elevating your vibrational frequency, fostering positivity and balance.
Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla were well-known for their minds. Einstein was known to have said, “Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want, and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way”. Profound huh? Well, what about Nikola Tesla? He stated, “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” If two of the most genius and renowned minds of our time had such profound things to say about this topic, we should at least ponder it (that is, meditate on it) right? Ok, so how can we benefit (physiologically) from daily meditation?
The Physiological Benefits of Daily Meditation
Meditation is known to promote heart and brain coherence. What’s that you ask? Well, when you engage in deep, controlled, rhythmic breathing during meditation, your heart rate variability (HRV) stabilizes, and your brain waves shift into a more relaxed state. This synchronization creates harmony between the heart and brain, enhancing emotional regulation, focus, and overall resilience. In other words, your brain waves will get in sync with your heart rate, working smoothly together. This results in relaxation and promotes emotional stability and mental clarity. Here are some more wonderful physiological benefits along with numerous Scriptures that support them (I highly recommend you look up the Scriptures passages as they are mentioned and ponder them with Holy Spirit & how they fit in with what you’re reading. This is how you grow in spiritual understanding):
Benefit #1 - Reduces Stress and Anxiety:
Meditation lowers cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress. Regular practice can help you approach challenges with clarity and calmness. We are called to live in peace and should become more aware of God’s desire for us to live in a state of spiritual Rest, especially since He has saved us and given us new life, in and through His Son Jesus Christ! The more we engage and practice meditation and learn to be at rest (Psalm 46:10), the more we will carry that state (vibrational state; spiritual state) with us when we are active doing….life. Let us remember Isaiah 26:3 which states that “God will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on Him”. Meditation can also be referred to as mindfulness. Our minds are extremely powerful and even Solomon said “As a man thinks (within himself), so is he (so he will become).” It’s no wonder Holy Spirit tells us through the apostle Paul to think on whatsoever is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy and to meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8). See how it all ties in?
Benefit #2 - Improves Heart Health:
Deep breathing and mindfulness activate the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering blood pressure and promoting cardiovascular health. The parasympathetic nervous system, sometimes called the “rest and digest” state, controls the body’s ability to relax. God wants us to abide in Peace and Rest. He tells us this in Matthew 11:28 saying, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you Rest…” And in Exodus 33:14 God says, “My Presence will go with you and I will give you Rest”. Jesus also tells us in John 15:4 “Abide (remain) in Me, and I (will abide/remain) in you. This is a loving command & invitation to dwell in our oneness with Christ and because He is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), when we spend time in meditation and mindfulness, focused on Him, we align ourselves with Jesus, and thus, with His Peace. The result of this is experiencing His Peace and Rest internally, no matter what is happening in our lives externally.
Benefit #3 - Enhances Brain Function:
Meditation increases gray matter density in areas of the brain associated with memory, empathy, and decision-making. In other words, gray matter is primarily responsible for processing and interpreting information. This makes sense spiritually because when we meditate (can also mean to ponder, to imagine, to focus on, to dwell upon), we allow our thoughts (our inner vision; eyes of our understanding; Ephesians 1:18) to focus on what we cannot physically see with our natural eyes. We may not realize it, but we are actually connecting with God’s realm (the spiritual realm) and He provides the grace to process and interpret information. Another example is when we are asleep and we dream or have ideas during the night. Our bodies are physically at rest, while our minds have nowhere to go (due to disconnecting to the external world as our eyes are closed). Our minds can only go inward and when we awake, that natural meditative state (called sleep) gradually fades and we become more aware of our external world. (This revelation was granted to me by Holy Spirit in 2024 and I’m so blessed to be able to share it with you now!). Humans sleep because it is comically, like a “forced meditation” that God has set in place, not only to renew our physical strength, help our bodies heal, but to also communicate with us. Imagine if we didn’t have to sleep? How many of us would stop to be still before God in meditation? Maybe not many, so God uses our sleep to communicate to us through dreams, visions of the night, spiritual downloads, creative inspiration and witty ideas that just come while we’re asleep. Isn’t God amazing!?
Benefit #4 - Boosts Immune Function:
Studies suggest that meditation enhances immune response by reducing inflammation and promoting hormonal balance. Spiritually-speaking, when we meditate, we become more aware of our oneness with God (1 Corinthians 6:17) and this brings us into alignment and fosters balance and wholeness. It’s difficult to explain, but after regular daily meditation, you will literally feel more whole and more balanced. This is a manifestation of spending time with our Creator, aware of our union with Him, being still and knowing that He IS God (Psalm 46:10). As we sit still, loving Him, He fills us and our cup overflows (Psalm 23:5).
Benefit #5 - Promotes Emotional Well-Being:
By elevating your vibrational state, meditation fosters feelings of joy, gratitude, and compassion. It should be no surprise to us that spending time sitting still with God, should result in joy because “…in His Presence is fullness of Joy” (Psalm 16:11). Gratitude is another powerful secret to walking in close fellowship with God! Meditation should be combined with remembering God’s goodness, just like David did throughout the Book of Psalms.

WARNING: many non-believers are teaching meditation and while they may mean well, their methods do not require one to access the spiritual world through Jesus Christ (John 10:1-10), which is DANGEROUS! How so? Entering into the spiritual realms other than through Jesus Christ is spiritually-illegal and will make one susceptible to being deceived by demonic spirits, masquerading as “angels of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14). One also risks opening up portals that allow demonic spirits to enter into one’s life and cause havoc. Please heed this warning and protect yourself and your family. This is why God has me teaching Christians how-to meditate HIS Way, free from any danger and fear of deception. Meditating through Jesus Christ is the only safe way to enter into the spiritual realms. His sheep follow Him and only heed His Voice (John 10:1-11).

Because of His sacrifice & resurrection on the third day, I can put my faith in Him and You now accept me as Your child. Thank You! I want to know You personally. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit and teach me to walk in a real relationship with You. I don’t want religion, just a REAL relationship with You, my Creator.
